Partial or total edentulism

Dental implantology is a surgical technique for the functional rehabilitation of the patient suffering from so-called partial or total edentulism. This is a dental pathology quite widespread among people over 65 years of age, although its presence in younger patients is not excluded.

Partial edentulism is characterized by a limited and localized loss of teeth, while total edentulism equates to a complete and unstoppable loss of teeth. The discomfort that arises from this difficult dental condition leads to a series of medical complications due to the stomatognathic system, aesthetic, postural, and psychological consequences.

Patients suffering from edentulism experience severe consequences for daily activities such as phonation, swallowing, chewing, the ability to yawn, and smile. The medical reason is a progressive painlessness and atrophy of the soft tissues of the oral cavity.

The techniques of dental implantology

bone reconstructive surgery, to allow for implantology;
the safe removal of old, obsolete, and poorly positioned implants;
implantology on 4 implants, which guarantees fixed teeth on the entire dental arch, through the insertion of 4 implants;
delayed or immediate load implantology, which guarantees the insertion of the implants and therefore the fixed teeth within 24 hours. It is defined as “immediate load” because it is possible to intervene in a single surgical time.

In the procedure, action is taken directly on the root of the lost tooth, and a titanium screw, a biocompatible material capable of quickly osseointegrating with the bone, is inserted in its place.

The innovative techniques of implantology that we employ allow us to insert up to 5 implants for each dental arch in significantly short times. We manage to guarantee the patient very quick recovery times.

The advantages of dental implantology

TThe main advantages of implantology are:

total control of painful symptoms, both during the intervention and in the post-operative phase, thanks to the combination of local anesthesia and intravenous conscious sedation. Sedative drugs effectively counteract states of consciousness that naturally occur during a dental surgical procedure, such as anxiety, stress, fear;
the increase in the length of the implants used and their placement in an inclined position relative to the bone crest. This promotes better stability, without disturbing other anatomical structures such as the mandibular nerve and the maxillary sinus;
the design of the implants with the help of specific software that allows for the digital reconstruction in 3D of radiological exams.

The great revolution of this technique is the possibility to have fixed teeth again and to maintain the healthy teeth present in the oral cavity. These, in fact, are not sacrificed with the insertion of dental pillars, since the implants placed through implantology interventions never rest on the adjacent teeth.

The phases of dental implantology intervention
